Pre-Year-End Review

Not my final 2020 in review post, but just some thoughts for today.

It will be interesting to see how friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and businesses come out of 2020. For sure, some of the nonsense this year was driven by the election. People actually care about things like that. But the impact of Rona has set the pace for, at a minimum, a generation to come.

The question is – how will you be permanently changed going into 2021?

Will you live in fear of the NEXT boogieman?

Will you roll over and expose your belly every time the govt orders you to obey? Will you be Big Brother’s eyes and ears and boots on the ground, shaming and exposing every individual and business to the proper authorities and social media for non-compliance?

Will you indefinitely forgo family gatherings, anniversaries, holidays, sporting events, performances, celebrations, festivals, the arts, and vacations for the sake of Safetyness?

Will you put all your hopes and dreams into corporations promising cures and miracle balms?

It’s no secret that my family and I choose not to live in fear. Even before 2020, we rejected the mold and carved our own path. That bothered some people a year ago. It straight up angers others today. We don’t go looking for danger or throw all caution to the wind. But as the Head of my Household, I’ve weighed the cost and benefits of the choices we make, and we’re perfectly comfortable enjoying Life.

We don’t put our hope in politicians, money, wealth, power, strength of arms, or even science. Our hope is in the Creator and Sustainer of the universe — Jesus Christ. He gives us Peace that the world cannot understand. That does not mean we don’t “believe science” or economics or practice self-defense. It simply means our hope is not wrapped up solely in these temporal things.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
