At the beginning of the year, I had shared a link to the Who’s song 1921 from Tommy to capture my optimism for this year.
I’ve got a feeling ’21 is going to be a good year.
Especially if you and me see it in together
I’ve got a feeling ’21 is going to be a good year.
Especially if you and me see it in together
I had no reason to be over optimistic
But somehow when you smiled, I can brave bad weather
With 2 days till Thanksgiving and 6 weeks until 2022, this year is shaping up to be one of the best years in recent history for our family.
I know it’s been rough for many of you out there. We’ve had so many reasons to give up hope, get frustrated or angry, and to look for who was to blame for our lots in this life. Not trying to make light of all the struggles and pain and tragedy we have endured this year, and this is not a ‘This is fine’ pep talk.
But let’s be honest. There are lots of people out there that are perfectly content with their “life is miserable” outlook on everything, no matter the circumstances. Every day is another excuse to claim victimhood, oppressed by those that are better off or more comfortable than we are.
As for me and my household, we have so much for which to give thanks. Just to name a few highlights this year –
- Daughter #1 got MARRIED.
- Daughter #2 began a new job as a preschool teacher and she absolutely loves it. She also bought her first car.
- Daughter #4 graduated high school early! She also started one job in January, found it wasn’t the right fit for her after a few months, and then landed her dream job!
- We attended 2 more weddings this year of some dear friends.
- Helped my sister and brother move into new states and/or apartments.
- My sister started a new job and she’s killing it.
- My new son-in-law got a job and moved to NC from TX.
- The kids are expecting in APRIL 2022! I’m going to be a grandfather!
- I’m about to start a new job, working from home full-time, next week. (This is a huge answer to months of prayer for many faithful prayer partners.)
- Our chapel began in-person worship and fellowship once again after a brief season of Zoom meetings only.
- The Lord has protected our family from Covid thus far.
Yes, we’ve been incredibly blessed this year. As we prepare for Thanksgiving and all of the excitement over friends and family gathering at our home, all of the delicious food we’re going to devour, and the joy of knowing we’re united by our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, I hope everyone a safe and happy holiday wherever you may be.
